Why We Are Doing This
Not all fish food is created equal, which is why we are the Curators choice when it comes to feeding in aquariums and zoos worldwide.
A decade or so ago, feline and canine dry food went through a huge revolution as pet owners began to demand more nutritious food for their animals; with less fillers and meals, and higher protein rates.
Unfortunately, many dry fish food products have the same issues, but haven’t gotten the same attention. Brine shrimp, farmed overseas, is a key component in most feeds, and is most often times dried at extreme temperature.
The "Ash" Problem
The extreme heat used in the creation of this food produces what the nutritional industry calls ash. Ash is the inorganic matter left over after something is cooked at a high temperature, and even though it contains protein, that protein becomes almost completely non-digestible and unhealthy for your fish and their ecosystem.
Many companies will re-introduce nutrition through additives and top-coating for palatability.
